Empowered Tiddas is a mentoring program specifically designed to address the gender gap for Indigenous girls and young women. It aims to increase school attendance, improve engagement, support Year 12 completion, and facilitate transitions into further study or employment. The program includes two-hour weekly group mentoring, cultural activities, arts and crafts, yarning circles, women's dance workshops, and provides participants with a cultural diary and Tiddas T-shirt.
In the Empowered Tiddas program, cultural mentors are much more than just guides; they are the heart of the program, embodying the principles of personalized learning through their lived experience and deep connection to Aboriginal culture on the South Coast of NSW. Their role is pivotal in shaping the journey of each Tiddas, offering unique insights and fostering a strong sense of identity and belonging.
